The Parkville, Missouri Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION Starting Salary: $32,147 year with annual merit increases
Uniform allowance: $500 year, non-taxed. In addition, the police department provides
starting uniform items including leather gear and firearm.Health Insurance: The city contributes up to $585 per month for health insurance. This amount fully covers single employees and the majority of costs for those with dependents. Vision and dental are also included in the single plan and at a nominal rate for family members. Retirement: The city offers a 457 Deferred Compensation Program through ING. There is no vesting time and members can begin contributing to the program upon completion of the first six months of employment with the city. In addition, the city matches an amount equal to five percent of the member's annual income to every member's deferred compensation account, on top of the regular salary after six months of employment. Members are not required to utilize the 457 plan and may invest into any retirement account of their choice, however the 5% that the city contributes will be invested into the 457 plan. Vacation/Holiday Time: Every sworn member of the department receives 80 hours of vacation time per year for the first 5 years of employment. The amount of vacation time then increases. Officers also receive 72 hours of holiday time that can be used in conjunction with vacation time. Sick/Injury Leave: Members accumulate 8 hours of sick leave per month which can be accumulated up to 960 hours. Members can also be granted 24 hours of bereavement leave per year. Tuition Reimbursement: There is a program in place for tuition reimbursement. A portion of a member's continuing education may be reimbursed by the city. Life Insurance: The city provides a life insurance plan and there is a supplemental life insurance plan available to all employees for a nominal fee. |
